The Government has its own website, DirectGov, and the page Money Tax and Benefits takes you directly to the financial elements of that site. There is a wealth of information on Benefits and Financial Support, Tax, Pensions, Managing Money and Debt Issues; an excellent site for your research before any financial decision making.
A good place to find impartial and comprehensive guidance on finance can be found at the Financial Services Authority (FSA). The FSA is an independent non-governmental body and the UK’s financial watchdog; their useful Consumer Advice page MoneyMadeClear has loads of interesting information. It may also be useful to try out the FSA financial product comparisons, guides, calculators and product explanations; a great site to do your research before listening to independent financial advisors and commercial sales staff. Another independent site, MoneyBasics, offers pages on financial advice across a broad financial spectrum; take a look at the Credit Card Calculator!
