You are here : Children and Adult Education / Boarding Schools
If you are thinking of sending your child to boarding school and need advice on the subject, a good starting place is the Children's Education Advisory Service (CEAS) which is specific to Service families on 01980 618244, email enquiries@ceas.deta.co.uk
CEAS hold the Accredited Schools Database (ASD), a list of schools for which the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA, formerly Boarding School Allowance) is admissible. If you wish to apply for the allowance, the school you choose must be on this list. The CEAS can help you through the process.
For a comprehensive list of all Boarding Schools in the UK the Boarding School Directory is a useful document.
You should note that Affiliated Independent Schools are not inspected under the Ofsted umbrella but instead by the Independent Schools Inspectorate where you can view the Inspection Report of the school of your choice.
(Old Boarding School Allowance)
The MOD website gives information on the allowances available to you.
What happens to CEA if I am made redundant? The rules governing redundancy and the effect on CEA are found in JSP 752. See news article.
